I'm so excited to spend the year with you as your teacher! Here is a little bit about me!
As long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2015 with a BS in Elementary Education with a STEM concentration and a minor in Psychology. I was apart of the final class of the NC Teaching Fellows. I just received my AIG certification through UNCW & I am returning this year to begin my Masters of Elementary Education!
During my first year, I was recognized as a finalist for the Onslow County Beginning Teacher of the Year. During the 2016-17 school year, I was recognized as Dixon's Tech-Savvy Teacher of the year. My goal for your child this year is to graduate third grade happy and prepared to move on to fourth! This year we are diving into the world of 1:1 devices. It will be a difficult year at first as we navigate how to best get in the habit of using laptops to expand and display our learning. Please be patient as we explore this new learning experience.
When I am not in the classroom I try to be outdoors as much as possible. I love going biking, surfing, and walking along the beaches of Topsail Island. I also have three dogs (a Maltese, a mini Golden Doodle & a Border Collie Mix) who I take on almost all my outdoor adventures.
I also LOVE to travel and see new places. I have almost been to all 50 states and I have traveled to several countries. Most recently I was able to travel to Shanghai, China to visit my sister who was studying there at the time. The entire trip was amazing! Amazing food, culture, architecture, & people surrounded me in the busy city of Shanghai!
Additionally, I was apart of a group of teachers selected to go visit schools in the United Kingdom. This 10 day trip filled with conferences, school visits, and learning experiences was a truly unforgettable. I can't wait to implement 'English practices' into my own classroom!
P.S. Science is my FAVORITE subject to teach. Sign up at https://mars.nasa.gov/participate/send-your-name/mars2020 to send your name to Mars! You will earn frequent flyer miles for your FREE round-trip (though, I doubt any of those miles will transfer to any Earth flights)!
